Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 2026

Sanctuary Counselling and Supervision is committed to protecting your privacy and handling personal information with care, respect, and confidentiality.

Information we collect

We may collect personal information you provide through this website or in the course of engaging with our services. This may include your name, contact details, enquiry or booking information, payment information, and, where relevant, health, wellbeing, supervision, or counselling-related information.

We collect this information to respond to enquiries, arrange appointments, provide counselling or supervision services, maintain appropriate records, process payments, and meet legal, ethical, and professional obligations.

How information is used and stored

We use secure service providers to support the operation of our website and practice, including email, booking, payment, IT, video conferencing, and storage systems. Where necessary, these providers may process or store personal information on our behalf. Some providers may store or process information outside Australia.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary, or as required for legal, ethical, or professional record-keeping purposes.

Online counselling and supervision

Online counselling and supervision sessions may be conducted using secure video conferencing platforms such as Google Meet. While reasonable steps are taken to protect privacy and confidentiality, online communication carries some inherent risks.

Clients are encouraged to join online sessions from a private location, using a secure device and internet connection. Sessions are not recorded unless this is discussed and agreed in writing beforehand.

Confidentiality and its limits

Personal information shared in counselling or supervision is treated confidentially. However, confidentiality may be limited where disclosure is required or authorised by law, where there is a serious risk to a person’s safety, or where necessary to meet professional, ethical, or legal obligations.

Access, correction, and concerns

You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you. If you have a privacy concern or complaint, please contact us using the details below.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Crisis and emergency communication

This website is not intended for crisis or emergency communication. Please do not send urgent or highly sensitive information through website forms or ordinary email.

If you are in immediate danger or need urgent support, contact emergency services or an appropriate crisis support service.

Further privacy, consent, and intake information may be provided as part of the onboarding process.
